    I could not agree more, Tunics just don't "do it" for me if they are not on a torso/mannequin.

    I just like how all your torsos match, it really makes it classy. The three I have for my collection are all different Allthough my one tunic is a super small size that I had to use one of those styrofoam torso you see on ebay and bastardize it with an exacto knife to squeeze the jacket onto it.


    On a side note.. If you decide that you can't display your NCO M36 let me know

      This is the more usual set up - although I am contemplating a lower, horizontal glass cabinet with three tunics on top of it, as the space beneath the mannequins is wasted!

        I am considering changing my mannequins to ones with heads (see below) as it is relatively easy to do and little (if any cost). Admittedly the polystyrene head needs a little more work (I don't really want to get into a debate on the wisdom of using styrofoam though). What are members' opinions on heads v headless? Do heads detract from the tunic or help complete it and give a more 'true' display than a headless torso?

              John, first of all, you have a wonderful collection, which is very nicely displayed too. But I wouldn't go for these heads if I were you. Everything in your room is so "perfect", and now these "easy-to-do-and-little-if-any-cost" heads - they just don't fit there.
              Plus I always thought that if you want to "give a more 'true' display", go for a nicely-made full-size mannequin, not just a head with torso.
              The other thing that I wouldn't do is using those female torsos for displaying tunics because in the end they look like females.








              I have only one full-size mannequin. It only costs a little fraction of what you display on it. Why then not to buy a good mannequin?

                Thanks for the input bnz.42 - this is why I wanted to gauge peoples' opinions. The mannequins I use are all male - inc the one that my feldwebel 'rock is on! I had to pad the torso out to fit the tunic. The guy must have had broad shoulders and a fat arse! I'm not really a fan of full size mannequins because

                a. I haven't the space.
                b. It means I have to buy trousers and boots (expense).
                c. They are more expensive than torsos.
                d. They usually stand in a stupid pose!

                But to each their own (yours looks fine by the way as do a few others that I have seen here). If money/space were no object then I would have them though in my private museum!

                    very nice set up, in my opinion I wouldn't ad the heads.
                    The uniforms look very good without a head.
                    The Feldjäger set up looks very good with that figure.

                      I also think you should leave the heads off, but that's just me.

                          In my opinion, use both. Where you have a visor or helmet that matches use the head. If just the tunic go without.

                            Hi.

                            Nice warroom you have.

                            I think that heads on mannequins sometimes take the focus off the uniform displayed on the mannequin. If you want heads, try www.websterdisplays.com, they make nice "torso with head" mannequins. Webster mannequins are used in Robert Kurtz' book Afrikakorps from Schiffer.

                            Wehrmacht Awards member "Feldwebl" also has some nice mannequins; http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...7&page=2&pp=15. Don't know where he bought them.
