You made a very good selection there.
Furniture pieces of this vintage are usually excellent long term purchases. Even veneered pieces from earlier times can be good buy as the veneering was usually done over a solid wood base such as poplar or pine. Additionally the veneer used then was thicker allowing some amount of re-finishing. I consider most of the furnitue made today to be in the disposable category as there's not much you can do to rehab a piece made of particle board with perhaps a thin veneer on top.
I am fortunate that one of my life long hobbies has been furniture making so practically everything we own is made out of solid hardwood.

I agree with Mark in that old oak cabinets and militaria go hand in hand. A very nice collection displayed in very desirable cabinetry.
