    Mannequins

    Gents,

I have just started collecting and have gone through the pics page with the mannequins, and WOW! I am truly envious of many, and hope my collection will grow to some of yours. I'd like to know is there a site or somewhere to get mannequins (other than on EBay), that anyone would recommend?

Also is there an average price for some of the more 'life-like' ones?

    Best,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,

North American mannequins are notoriously poor quality regarding details, construction etc. They also have less detail to the faces.

European mannequins are considered the cream of the crop but can run anywhere from $500 - $1500 Canadian.

Roxy Displays has some good sized mannequins for military displays but the faces suck. They are in the USA so shipping isn't too bad.

Here are some European ones but shipping would be awful: http://www.displaymannequin.nl/zc/ma...87a8bcd960a0a7

I know of one forum member who buys cheap female mannequins, chops off the head and chest, puts a latex male head on and voila! His results can be found in the last couple pages of the mannequins thead (Lou58). Very elegant and cost effective solution.

Do you live in Toronto by any chance? I found a great used mannequin store in Toronto so feel free to drop me a line if so.

Yes these are the latex heads that I was referencing. I have one on a torso and it looks great!

FYI - the #2 head in this line-up had too large a neck for the tunic I had so I simply cut up the back of the neck, pulled it closed and stapled it shut again. Worked like a charm!

I build my own mannequins. Mine don't have faces either. I call it the "ghost look".
