Both Volumes will be a blend of wartime intelligence reports, factory information, and of course photographs much like the Ration books. Obviously a project of this scale is well beyond the capability of any single person to cover adequately.<O></O>
    <O></O>
So I’m asking for your assistance in providing any of the following:<O></O>
    <O></O>
    a. Wartime photographs of German soldiers conducting activities or actions consistent with the topics shown above.<O></O>
    b. Contemporary or wartime photographs of personal items.<O></O>
    c. Written information (wartime or Contemporary) on the selected topics or individual personal items.<O></O>
    <O></O>
Scanned items should be done at 300 DPI or higher. Small photographs etc should be scanned at 600 DPI or higher. <O></O>
    <O></O>
Contemporary photos of items in your own collection should be taken at 350 DPI or higher. Please photograph the item against a solid covered background. Please provide several views or angles as you deem appropriate. Wartime dates, manufacturer info is of special interest.<O></O>
    <O></O>
All contributors will be required to fill out a Letter of Release and will be recognized for their support. I have utilized the Schiffer Publication release form since my hope is they will publish the books. At this time I have not offered the project to anyone and have no commitment from any publisher to publish the works.<O></O>
    <O></O>
A Release Form in Word is shown below. If needed a PDF file will also be sent.<O></O>
    <O></O>

Really difficult to read your post! I don't know how much material you already have but I would think this should be a one volume book. Is there such a big market for this that two volume would sell well?

I couldn't read your whole post so sorry if you addressed this already.

    Also - cool idea.

      Hi Adam,

I changed the text to white. Hopefully it will make it easier to read.

I have a lot of written information on certain aspects of Personal Items. I also have a lot of pictures of items in collections, but they don't even make a dent in the number of items that are out there. So the book isn't simple a bunch of pictures thrown together with no narrative to tie it together. My goal is to look beyond the items themselves and discuss the manufacturing of the items and how they were used in the field. I have very few wartime pictures at this point, but there are thousands of photos available in collector hands. Many are boring by themselves, but as a part of this book they take on a different role.

This book will go way beyond a simple display of cigarettes and Razors. For example the Chapter titled Adding the Personal Touch will cover Divisional Cap Badges, Watch Fob Tokens, Scarfs, etc. So yes I believe two Volumes are required. In fact I will have to edit carefully to get everything into two volumes.

Will collectors Buy It? I don't know. I do know that lots of collectors and reenactors have personal items in their collections. So there is an interest.

Not sure if you have the ration book. I certainly never thought I'd find enough information on Rations for a single Volume let alone two Volumes. But two Volumes will be published and I believe the second Volume will be as popular as the first.

      Jim

Thank you for your offer of help . I'm especially pleased that you can help with those two specific Chapters. Right now I don't have a ton of pictures or information to flesh out those two Chapters.
