    My Iraq War Militaria

Well, even US government docs are wrong, so we shouldn't be too hard on the Wehrmacht! I was Chief of High Value Targeting from Jan-April 11th. Here are my docs

Now this may seem off topic, but I want to use it as an example of what I want to do in mounting medals and award docs. Lots of folks have such mountings here - do you all make it yourself or is there someplace that does a nice job?

        Marc,

That's a very nice collection and presentation. It probably won't be in your lifetime but someday collectors will drool over it.

            Hi Marc,
First off great display. My friend here in Arizona, Victor Pena does all of my framming. As a matter of fact he has done over twenty framming jobs for me. The great thing about Victor (besides being one of my best friends) is that he is also a 3rd Reich collector and knows how to do it properly without damaging anything.

If interested I can e-mail you his phone number. Here is a mothers cross display Victor did. The matting is in leather which matches the blue enamel on the crosses and the awards themselves are mounted on a doeskin type material.
            Regards,
            Jody

                Hi Peter,
Thank you-my wife likes it as well. It really is an eye catcher. I will have to show you pics of other things he has mounted for me. That frame job is an example of taking some common items and making them look like something worth thousands.
                Regards,
                Jody

Robb - um, I worked in the Pentagon.

Jody - great display! I had a bad experience with a framing store - the guy ut off the clasp to "help make it fit better." This is after I gave very explicit written directions, so I am thinking of doing this myself. Anyone know a good site out there about framing large groupings?

                          Hi Marc,
Victor does the framming himself at home (his shop is part of his home). As I said he is also a 3rd Reich Collector, so he would not bust off any pins. He is the only one I know that I would trust. Years ago, I had a print frammed at a local shop and the idiots cut several of the signatures off of the bottom of the print to make it fit in the frame. They bought me a new print.
                          Regards,
                          Jody

Send me his info. Yeah I was so angry when that guy cut the pin and catch on my badge - there are no words for it...

For those of you in the Ottawa Canada area here is the Framer that I use. he does all sorts of work for:

                              The War Museum,
                              Museums in General
                              The Governor General
                              The Prime Minister
                              and me....

The museums usually get him to do mounting on the more challenging delicate works as a private contractor.

He uses only Acid Free Materials and Museum quality Glass (UVA/ UVB Resistant)

Here is his website and he has something like the best selection of frames in Ontario. His entire shop consists of thousands upon thousands of frames.

Top Notch guys and very good at what they do. Never worry about catche's getting gut off with these guys. then they handle old docc's or medals they use all 100% Natural Cotton gloves so as not to leave behind damaging fingerprints.

Gaston is the owner and Anistasia is a real sweetheart. For all you Ottawa Area collectors.
