Very nice thank you for sharing. I loved the ME109 kills in the log book. I too will one day visit.

What I heard is that Germans moved those planes to Cracow to save them from Allied bombings. There is also fuselage and engine of Me209 record plane. Then they simply left them there as they retreated.

Very interesting information on the origin of the German A/C that are in the museum; I was wondering why a Polish museum would appear to focus so heavily on foreign items (especially items of German origin, given the prior "issues" between these countries over the years).

Very nice museum and thanks for the photos of your visit.

Polish army in early 20thies used all captured equipment ; the most it was german origin ( polish pilots learnt and fought in early 20thies with german I WW planes ). For example around 200 planes were captured during 'Powstanie Wielkopolskie' in 1919 in Lawica airport ( former I WW german army airport ). Those planes were used during Powstanie Wielkopolskie and 1920 Polish-Bolsheviks war. Many of them were , after they were too old and useless , put in Museums . In 1939 , after Germans invasion and lost of the Polish defensive war, by many known as Polish campaigne or September campaigne , most of those planes were transport to Germany to German museums. Some of them were captured and transported to private war trophy collection of Herman Goring.

Also all soviet planes you can see and which are in museum posession were used by polish army during and after II WW.

There is a very few of original polish pre war examples of Polish made airplanes ( unfortunately many were destroyed during and after II WW ; even those in Herman Goring collection of war trophy planes of conquered armies ).

Belive me many Polish museums would like to have in their collections pre war polish made airplanes.
