    Bronze goring bust

Newesr acquisition is this bronze bust of Goring. Measures about 15 1/2 inches high. These are actually much rarer than the Hitler busts. I have no intention of polishing the bust but would appreciate any suggestions as to how to rid the bust of all the verdigris without damaging it.

    Many thanks -

A soft tooth brush dipped in vinegar is worth a try.

Is this an actual "life size" (1:1 size)? I've been looking for one of those.

      Hi Leroy -

The bust just arrived from Germany a few days ago ..... and WOW! I thought it was life size but its really about twice life size and weighs a ton. Note the bust size next to a life size bust of Hitler.

Gordon, I rather like the green tinted verdigris. It gives the piece more "character".

So it is indeed life size.

Glad you're leaving the verdegris! Looks great.

The problem with leaving it is that it is a sign of corrosive damage occurring--it's called bronze disease or bronze rot. It's a very long and tedious process to stop--you might find this link interesting as there are a number of methods to treat diseased bronze, and it can be passed from one object to another, so keep the Führer away from the Reichsmarschall!
