As I said in the "Crosses" Forum, I'm afraid that that DK is not good.

          Why?

          Gentleman,

Could you specify why you think that this is not a "good" German Cross? For me, that just came into this thread, seems that your statements lack explanations. You just put that you don´t like, but why?

          Let us know, please.

          All the best,

          Douglas.

At Rathau on the Aller, the CO of 5th Royal Tanks advanced on foot to take a cautious look into the town before his tanks moved in. He encountered one of his own officers, a huge Welshman named John Gwilliam who later captained his country's rugby team, 'carrying a small German soldier by the scruff of his neck, not unlike a cat with a mouse.' The Colonel said: 'Why not shoot him?' Gwilliam replied in his mighty Welsh voice: 'Oh no, sir. Much too small.'

For me the subject is locked up.
There is no need to display narrowmindedness. In YOUR opinion this is real. Try and sell it to anyone on teh forum after they have looked at your two threads and nobody will touch it with a 30 foot pole. Take advice from those who have been at this for longer than you and I have been alive, as they know what they are talking about and you should appreciate their help, even when it is not what you wanted.

i will state specifically what is wrong, as I had noted on the other thread

                      1. The plate with the "1941" is extended in a rolled pattern, like a scroll, which looks more like a Godet or Deschler. A zimmerman does not have that.

                      2. The "1941" date looks like that of a Godet.

                      3. Zimmerman had 4 hollow rivets. Not six ball rivets. It looks like a Godet from this perspective.

                      4. The catch on this is not consitent with a zimmerman. It looks like a Deschler.

                      5. The "20" is not shaped like the "20" stamp on original zimmermans

                      6. The starburst has a "blued" appearance, rather than the black of an original

Please look at Gordon's book (with the exception of the mislabeled Jucnkers "1941" plate) as well as the section on this forum for cross identification. It will help.

If I might ask, did you get this from a family member of the purported recipient that leads you to believe that it is not possibly a fake? I have gotten a real education in "created" groupings.
