      Indeed, very nice.

I recently saw a TV show concerning the Hurtgenwald battle. GI's and Germans came back als old men to the Hurtgenwald revisiting old memories. After 60 years they could shake hands. Very strange to see these old men trying to look back at there lives and the war. Beautifull program. During the show one of the GI's had taken his war trofee with him. A german flag, so one of the 5 items shown here. He saved it al of these years. His own real reminder of the war.

        Hello Jackal,

can you remember what the name of the TV show was? I'm living near Aachen and the Hurtgenwald, en I'm interested in the things that happened here. So that TV show is a nice addition to get to know more about this region.

My neighbor brought back 3 of the 5 ! Dagger, helmet & flag. In 1952, I was given the helmet for taking care of his lawn while he was on vacation...an M-40 Luft single decal which I still have. Tom

The photo of the American officer tending to the wounded German reminds me of a P.08 w/ holster that I recently picked up. Prior to acquiring the P.08 shown I had seen numerous photos like the one above, with a P.08 being carried on a G.I. M1910 web belt. The belt loops on the P.08 holster are too narrow for the M1910 web belt to fit through, so I suppose the G.I.'s had to improvise on how to make it work. To this end, I've seen PT.08 with one row of belt loop stitching cut to make extra room for the U.S. web belt to fit, as well as M1910 belt loops added to the PT.08 such as with the rig that I recently acquired.

Just thought that this might be of interest in light of the nice photo.

To me this one really has that "been there" character; I can just imagine someone (like the officer pictured) hauling his treasured souvenir "Luger" all across Europe in this holster on his G.I. belt.

The GI who brought this Kreigsmarinje Luger back must have been a cowboy since he altered both the holster and the KM belt for "quickdraw"
