Rare silver hallmarked french foreign legion lapel badge?? Help?

This badge is approx. the size of a united states nickel coin. its got a hallmark on the stem of the badge of a birds head/or rooster ( french silver hallmark) it is silver. back of the lapel badge is marked depose and then (cm) in a box, and then also on the stem { bte s.g.d.g.) not sure of the age or even what it is , i thought perhaps french foreign legion from the late 1800's but not sure. it is for sure french made, and hallmarked like the french badges with the exception of the precious metal hallmark on the stem.
