    New way to display EKs

I've been collecting EKs now for about 3 months. A friend of mine who works in wood built me a display frame in the form of a 2'x2' "iron" cross based on my specs. The base of the cross is made of pressed wood that is very hard and does not warp. The centre "core" is foam board covered in black felt. The outer rim is painted in silver paint. The "bead" is painted white to simulate frosting.

The crosses are held in place by seamstress pins that are very narrow and will not leave a big hole in the ribbons. After the pins are inserted, I leave enough to hang the cross on and snip off the rest. The 1st class crosses have a small ring (like on fishing lures) around the pins that are then hung on the pins.

The middle cross is an ubergrosse. The two crosses in the 2nd row from the bottom are Schinkel crosses.

This is my first "kick at the cat" as I have more crosses on the way. So I'm sure the contents of the "uberubergrosse" cross will change over time.

Is that railroad trestle bridge where the EK train stops?......
I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.....

Very impressive, Bernie. I like the way you have mounted the crosses inside the frame.

Very nice but I want to see the frame you make when you start collecting DK's!

                          Mike,

                          I can barely afford EKs.

Very nice! Where did you get the Prussian eagle print? I've been looking for one for the longest time.
