Chaplains were issued a marriage and baptism certificate book. They were suppose to record all marriages and baptisms.

In the 1953, the book was seperated into just marriages or baptisms.

Notice the inside of the book, the chapel design is different.

                  Absolutely Awesome

This thread is awesome! Between you and Liontas, I have been able to learn more in two days than I was able to find online in a week of searching! I was a Chaplain Assistant in the U.S. Army Reserve, 489th ENG (M) (H) in the mid 90's. I am exceedingly interested in German Heer Chaplains at the moment. Has anyone a line on a great book resource for not only uniforms, but daily activities of the German Chaplain? Has anyone seen a German Chaplain Field Kit? Any information is forthcoming.

                  Thank you in advance,

                  "Eppelebub"

                    Belgian cross

Hello, this is the Belgian "Aalmoezeniers kruis" or chaplains cross. It was used from 13-09-1889 till 15-11-1915, when the military uniform for chaplains was introduced. This is the Catholic version and you have also a protestant version, which is ultra rare. I also have 4 pictures in my collection where the cross is worn.

                        Some German paper items.

Thanks to a fellow forum member who sold me some of the chaplain Mass cards. People like him make this forum so great.
