Looking at your auctions, the results up to now, are completely illogical. More than 400 euro for the MkIII and about 150 for all 4. So, auctions may not always be that reliable. Considering that since people now know that it's not for sale anyway, they might bid just for fun. Does that mean that the helmet's value is the highest one that you will get?
What's more important, though, is that it's a matter of integrity. Some forum members have also bid on it, including some knowledgeable ones. They could surely help if asked about value, no need for them to be "used" like that.
To put it the other way: How would you like it if you were the winner of such an auction, just to be informed that the item was not for sale and that all the "seller" wanted, was your potential interest? I can guess your answer, I think!
No intent on irony and personal attacks, but IMO that's not the way to go on knowing your stuff... Just my 2 cents, anyway.
Best regards, Giorgos

Whatever regarding to the auction story etc.
But Grandpa gave you something, he has kept allmost all of his life, because probably you are interested in it and he trusts you with everything in the world and now you want to sell that....
Damn.. that's evil.. Give it back to the man or to someone else in the family who appriciate something you enherit.
And those where my 2 cents!
