Nice to see the helmets are saved from the ground. When we see the condition of these, we can imagine the remaining helmets that are out there will be gone and rotted away in a few year if they are not saved now.

In some cases you are very right.....but sometimes I feel that there is so much digging going on that sooner or later there will be little close to nothing left in the ground...

Now this Blue Div. lids are quite rare and very few have kept their spanish volunteer decal, many flacked off. In this Krasny Bor Battle filed is where most of the helmets have appeared, mostly in the area of the main soviet thurst comming form Kolpino, that would be the positions of Reg 262. I have also heard that after the battle the soviets thre to the huge antitak dich all the material that was unwanted, including both spanish a russian corpses...so a lot has appeared from the famous Trincheron...I know of a helmet that has both decls and all of the paint with little pitting that came from there....
