you are definitely right about that.....the Spanish Freiwillige lids that still have their decal are rather rare.....as most of them didn't....and more that when ground dug they tend to have it in bad condition or not have it at all....

It's interesting that helmets found in clay and rather deep tend to be in good condition..those in shallow earth are almost destroyed....(talking of what I have seen..)

What I have yet to see is a an original ground dug Blue Division that still has the decal and the original winter scheme....

Interesting that the one in post 796 still has its draw string. The soldier must have replaced the original drawstring with a nylon one for it to survive like that.
