Background for displays

I'd like to choose a background to display my collection of medals and orders. What could be your advice about the color and type of fabric/material for the background?

Lots of ideas. Sort of depends on what display you have. Is it a shadow box; a cabinet, etc..
This is the right area to see how others have displayed their collections.
I like small flags, some period books, maybe a soldbuch or other items.

Felt cloth is nice and depending on the color and award type can offer your awards some good accents.

This is the fun part of having a collection. You get to decide how you want to present it.
This is an art in itself.
There are collections here that are only a few common pieces, but they are displayed magnificently where I have seen others with huge collections and they are not as appealing in their presentation.
