2009 Collecting from the german flea markets

I have been now living in East Germany for over 1 year.
It is a very different world from the green fields of Ireland.
But I have loved every minute of the change.

As many people know I am a dedicated collector of color photo slides for many years now but in the last 12 months or so, I have had the opportunity to buy very nice and interesting documents and photos in the flea markets of East Germany.

I have a scary feeling this little collecting side job will expand into a very large collection very quickly.
So I thought it would be interesting to start here !

Here are the first quick pictures of some of the material I have found in 2009.

    Bye for now.......
    Ian

              From Today.
A small but very nice collection from one Luftwaffe man based in the rocket testing airfield Brandis-Polens. 1939-1945.
I just got this from a dealer today. The soldier had worked as a mechanic at the rocket and ME262 testing grounds during the war and afterwards lived in Wurzen. Wurzen is only 4km from the airfield and near my home.
The documents and photos all have the brandis and wurzen stamps and titles.
This is a real dream collection and also in it, is a large format group photo of all the high ranking luftwaffe officers and the engineers and rocket designers.

What a great batch of photos and paper ID type items. I hope you are keeping an eye out for uniforms and insignia items too. You can always sell your excess stuff, hopefully for a profit. Any interesting panzer related stuff? Keep up the good work.

Very nice items Ian, thanks for posting them. So how do the former East Germans feel about TR stuff these days, two decades after reunification? Is it still a sensitive subject with them? Sounds like more of it has survived than I might have thought. Aside from the flea markets would there be a more direct way to seek out TR items or do you think it best to just watch for the items when they surface?
