DAK RING w/ Swastika - Comments Welcome!

An acquaintance of mine has been chomping-at-the-bit to buy this size 10 ring off me and I'm starting to get weak... I figure I will post it here for any knowledgeable comments concerning the inscribed date on the inside of the ring. Several years ago I was told the date on the inside was the date the soldier had died (1966). Any other ideas or general comments about this one are welcome! Looks like it has a maker's hallmark stamp directly under the mosque but no silver mark on the inside. Enjoy the photos and if you have experience with the sale of these rings... I welcome any advice as to what you think would be a fair sale price (in U.S. dollars) on this one.

    additional question...

Is it true, the gold top might indicate an officer's ring? Thanks!

      Hi Dan,
      NICE DAK ring
The gold fronts were simply a cost issue - if you could afford a more expensive example then so be it. Plenty of cheaper versions were available on the market, but other than gambling, drinking and wenching - what else was there to spend your hard earned coin on?
      Regards,
      Mark

Isn't it inscribed "1966" inside? What is with that?

I was told it was the date the soldier died... maybe a 25th war-reunion (1941+25=1966)?? Whatever the tribute/dedication was... as one of you (Mark) aptly remarked, "It has now been lost in time."

ooops! Sorry. I have to learn to read instead of just looking at all the pretty pictures!
