Cataloging Your Collection

I use Data Tracker for Militaria. Has an easy GUI interface for descriptions, images (up to 6 per item), cost, value, material composition, which era or war, nationality of origin and performs a backup copy. Unlimited number of items. Sorts, reports, and other nice options. I believe it runs $35 or $45 for a copy.
Gives you a trial copy for up to 25 items.

System Requirements

Processor speed of 300 MHz or faster
Windows 95,98, ME, NT, 2000 or XP
Minimum 256 Megabytes of RAM
100 Megs of available hard disk space.You may require additional hard disk space if you enter a large number of images.

Ive downloaded collectify and im trying to get it work, i must say that it aint the easiest of programs to use. Btw, is it possible to add more than one picture to an object?

I've been fiddling with it since yesterday too and i still havent found a way of adding more than one pic. I love this porgramme though. allows for lots of details and i thought that the UI was quite friendly

What about creating your own website? I did this to cataloging my own collection, show it of to friends and just have a lot of fun making it.

I have been cataloging my collections for years in ways like mentioned here.
A combination of WORD, Excel and pictures.

Because of the big amount of items, it was a compleet mistery sometimes to find the specific item ( aspecialy when you have more then one of the same!)

I was searches all ready some time for a decent program that could answer my specifics and I must say that Collectify answers all.

It is not cheap, but has no limit on a few pictures, no limit on the amount of items you want to list and is not only based on militaria.

Just using it for a few days, but allready totaly convinced that this will be the program I am going to use for life.

You even can add contact information from people who are important to your collection, like insurance people.

Yes, you can add more pictures.
I don't have the program on this computer, but I believe it is in the section valuation.
On the bottom of the page there is a sub-map that reads "media".
Here you can add more pictures and even movies.

I'm really low tech. I spreadsheet everything. Description, condition, cost, replacement value, source of purchase, source for replacement valuation. I mail this list to my insurance agent every year just so there aren't any surprises should anything happen. When I sell an item, I leave it on the list, but mark it as sold.

I'm with Jack. Excel is typically included in your softwafe bundle, and incredibly useful for things like this. It's very easy to use and helps keep track of anything and everything you could possibly need.

No need to pay for specialized software, in my opinion, that will do basically the same thing in a prettier package.
