Those flag pole ornaments are super cool. Did all of them come from prominent areas?

            Pete,

I did not know that you collected this stuff !! I really love the Major's service uniform! Is it marked?

I have several insignia/awards I picked up in Baghdad 06/07...as well as the upper half of the uniform/field gear/helmet on a mannequin I brought back. And a couple bits from Diyala 05/06

I also have some tile fragments, and strands of plastic chandeleir crystals and hammered sheet gold butterflies I brought back from Saddam's Palace on the same tour. For a wealthy dictator, he was a cheap guy when it came to his decor

Other than my own souveneirs, I have no interest in the subject. SOBs shot at me, I shot at them...end of my interest, though I'm sure someday this stuff will be highly collectable and when I'm gone, collectors will be bothering my widow for the Saddam stuff

obviously these weapons are owned by the Department of State, but figured some of you would like to see them...

                    a chadelier like mentioned...

                      Hey Brig,

Did any of that gold finish come off onto your hand, with just handling the rifle? I am just wondering how good of a finish gold would be, due to the metallic properties involved.

I have a set of these boards to add. They are thought to be Iraqi Popular Army shoulder slides for a PFC(most NCOs and EMs had their rank patches applied to their sleeves). They definitely are not issue construction, but are very well made. A great set.

The green stripe is made of a velvet type of material.

no gold came off in my hand, but we didn't fire them or anything. probably strictly ornamental/ceremonial. I believe there are a couple of gold ones circulating in collections, and I think the one I'm holding in the pic is also Uday Husseins

Wish I'd gotten a pic with Saddam's shotgun, but the room it was hanging in, we weren't allowed to take photos in.

I have some 'standard' helmets ( green and tan), a couple of common uniforms and some cache found webbing.

My favourite item is probably this helmet taken home by a member of the MO National Guard in the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport.
