Got my Detolf up and completed on Monday, pretty much all by myself, and when I did ask my other half to hold the door still whilst I screwed a fitting in place, she let it go mid screw turning and I had to spend 10 mins looking for the bits!!
Much better to do it alone for that reason only!!

It is fine to do it without help, using an object such as the sofa arm to prop the sides up whilst assembling, but be careful when letting go of 'not yet secured fully' sides to work on the others!! Turn the whole thing round to support it on the sofa!
Turning it from top to bottom may be difficult alone(it is assembled top on floor first)

Overall, not too bad a task and it is now up and awaiting it's contents eagerly!

Going to look at some LED lights now and lock possibilities.

If my little collection looks ok when in the Detolf, I may be back to post a couple of pics!
If it looks , I will wait a while!!!!!!!

Thanks to all who added comments here

the light is from four x3 led push lights, gives it a quite atmospheric eerie glow

i went for the billy cabinet for my collection as it is more versatile.you can put lights on 2 of the 6 shelves and also allows a lock to be easily put on the door

Thanks very much for the LED pics Mike.
They look like they will do the job fine to me.
Where do I get them from? I assume you can stick them beneath the lower shelves ok?

And your display is very impressive! 'WOW' springs to mind!
Makes my little mish mash of stuff look exactly like I am....an amatuer!!
Still yet to buy my first EK2............although i am currently looking right now though!

And I love the way prussian.guard displays his helmets in the cabinet.
                        Nice, nice display prush.

Such displays give me ideas, goals and inspiration for the future!

I prefer to use spotlights on my Detolf!!!

A decent spotlight arrangement on the ceiling directed at cabinets looks great.

I hate you Evilmike...your collection is so nice

                            hahaha

Anyhow I am still new to collecting and while my collection is growing...I have some nice display cases, but nothing like one of THESE bad boys...anyone have a link? About what do they run?

Great idea about the LEDs too Mike...how many shelves are in each? Thanks all

the led lights are widely avaliable, but also differ in price from 90p like mine proper cheap n nasty to £10 a pack, i presume the led's are all the same quailty...not like my new petzl ultra 350 lumen head torch, which is more car head lights

they do have sticky pads but i would definitely use some tape or fix them on well, dont want them falling off and doing damage, you cant see them unless your a pixie as the cabinet is'nt that tall.

it only has 3 shelves plus the base, i move the 3 shelves round every few months as i dont have space to display everything, the daggers are currently in hiding. i really need to get another, but space is limited ( i cant open my bedroom door to get in as it is. No more than about 2ft due to the wardrobe in the way, had to squeeze in the deltov, no fat chicks can get in either mind)

HAHAHA Mike, fat chicks are a no go as it is man, you should know that! I guess a little precaution doesn't hurt though

My room is nearing the same way...I have no where to put all my stuff...my door only opens about half way...thank god I don't bring fat chicks home anyhow

But I do have a good sized living space that I could pretty easily (I think) get one of these in...any links for it? And about what the dimensions are? It doens't look any wider then about 2 ft...

                                Bueller? Anyone? Bueller?
