The sad thing is, my collection, if I hadnt sold a thing, would be 3 times the size of that, easy. This is my second year of collecting, and ive learnt the value of each and every item I have.
There should be more young collectors out there, but I guess its not every young persons 'thing' these days sadly, they all seem to want to hang around the streets getting drunk and causing general problems.

I'm 20 too ^^
And I can tell you; Every penny I own is getting into my collection. It all started around two years ago when my grandpa gave me his bajonet. He served in the Dutch army and was send to Indonesia. Every time I was at his place he told me about his war time. I spent hours listening to him telling his stories. Very interesting! So my first Third Reich collectable whas a EK2 mm100. And about two years later my cabinet is pouring out
When some of my friends see my cabinet at my room they react like; "why the hell would you want something evil like that." I say I just like the collectables. Not because of what the Germans/Axis did in the war, but just the way their medals/uniforms/other stuff looks like. Just beautifull.
I even got a friend of mine that far to start collecting by himself. He has a decent collection of his own now. (he's at the WAF too)
I'm occasionally asked at my college (down the road) to show them my collection. Because every year, when the History teacher reaches the point of the WW2 era, he invites the grandfolks of the students to talk about their war experiances. So once in a while I have the previlage to show some veterans my collection. It's realy nice to hear their stories and such!!
What I'm trying to say is; no matter what somebody says about your hobby, just do what you want. Because some people like to throw their money away at booze, games, or whatever..
As I've sed, I'm 20 now. It's more then a hobby, It has become a real obsession
If I could just look into the future. Like 20 years ahead. And take a look at my collection. I'll bet it will be massive. Just as yours would be!!
