      Welcome

      Hello Marshall,

Welcome to WA. I'm a little over that age myself (had my 16th birthday about 40 years ago ) but wanted to take a moment to wish you well. May I suggest you show us what you have so far and possibly we can assist you as you move forward with your collection.

      Kind regards,
      Stu

I think both Stu and myself have warts that are older than 16

Anyway ... young collectors ... a word of advice. Save your money and buy quality pieces if you can. It's an expensive hobby, but is going to get worse. Years from now you will be glad you went for quality and not quantity.

AND ... make sure you check here before you buy .. nothing worse than losing hard earned money to scums that sell crap.

Hi guys, i'm Fred and i'm 15 and live in New England. I am in a german reenactment group which is 4KO, 914th regiment, 352nd infanterie division. My german collection is small but with the american dollar the way it is it is hard. I have an IAB, west wall, sports eagle, bwb, rad hat badge a fork and spoon kit, a canteen and a large amount of american stuff. I am getting an original camo M35 though hopefully soon

Guys you have shown some nice items but I want to say age has nothing to do with this . I am 45 and like looking at any collection no matter the age of the collector. I understand you want to meet younger people who have the same things in common and I am not trying to insult you or be rude . I just want to say this collecting bug bites us all the same!

Very good advice Darrell, I agree with you. I am 17 and have been collecting for about a year and a half. When I first started to collect I bought a few damaged medals and tinnies. Although they were cheaper than a lot of the other stuff around, I found out later that I would not even want them in my display case... so save up your money and buy something in decent condition that you won't need to upgrade down the road.

By the way, what is our youngest member here? I think most have to be at least 13 or 14.

                          Young Collectors

                          Hello,
Darrell is correct, buy quality or quantity. I am one of the handful on this forum that also started out collecting as a kid, I was 8 years old when I started to collect and now I am 43.

Even then, I knew to buy quality over common stuff. I had a friend who would spend $30 on a Luftwaffe em overseas cap and I would save up $80 and buy a DK in gold. Once he had $125 bucks saved up and bought 3 German helmets with it (one was a Luftschutz, and one was a no decal M-35) around the same time I purchased for $125 a SD Fallschirmjaeger (which I still have today). As a matter of fact I owned an RK of the Iron Cross before I owned a 1st class 1939 EK. Believe it or not some of the common stuff I still don't own, I still don't have a 1939 Black Wound badge, a War Merit Medal, etc. I guess the dinky stuff holds no interest for me.

I would rather have 3 mint KM badges then a riker filled with zinced out KM badges with busted pins, etc. Trust me the junk does not sell.

Keep up the collecting, don't loose your focus or get frustrated. Trust me get over the fact that you will never own it all, you won't. Enjoy what you have. BTW, I thought you would like to see a crappy photo of what my badge and medal collection looked like when I was around 11 years old.

                          Regards,
                          Jody

                              Hi Everyone,

Here is some pictures of my collection. I help my dad set up at shows and get things for this and some other dealers gave me a few things as well to get started. I want to thank Jason Burmeister and Bill Givins for the two items. I like to get the badges with their matching stickpins. I hope that you like what I have pictured. Thanks, Marshall
