Real nice P-38s. Always loved these. Had one years ago & got so used to the mag release on the bottom that I still prefer the Beretta 92 from the 80s with the mag release at the bottom. With regard to the P-38 - I very much admire a well engineered sidearm, simple to operate & damn near impossible to wreck under field conditions.

What kind of white grips are those? Rick C.

        white p38 grips

I agree with all you say about the durability and quality of the Walther firearms. The white grips are original factory issue available from Numrich gun supply. They fit perfectly and have the same number on the insides as the black ones that came with the pistol. Only problem is that they don't come with the escutcheon built into the grip.

I guess I'm showing my stupidity - whatz "escutcheon"?

Walther's are great but I've had little luck with the PPK's due to the position of their mag release. Being a lefty, my trigger finger is over it & when I fire, the recoil bounces my finger enough to drop the mag. (a rather embarrassing circumstance if one's in a firefight) which is why I've always been shy of that location for a mag release & have stayed with the old Beretta that I transitioned to in the early eighties.

            P38 Grip Escutcheons

The escutcheon refers to the circular threaded discs that are inlaid in the grip where the screw goes through to secure the grips together. There are 2 escutch. total, one on each side of the grip and the screw goes through both of them to join the two, and in so doing keeps the grips pulled together.
