    Hi Mike,

I am truly impressed, what a tastfull little "Reichs Chancellery". This must have been a fun endevor and a real labor of love. I honestly feel that militaria should be displayed like this and not put into bags and books.

I will have a room similar to your's someday, but I have a long way to go.
Is your wife able to pull you out of there from time to time?

    Enjoy your room!

As always, members comments are appreciated. Yes I agree that your militaria should be display and enjoyed. I'm fortunate that my wife supports my hobby or more fitting, my obsession. As long as we can pay our bills (most of the time) she lets me get what I want.

Most of my kids enjoy the room as well, as they get older I have to explain the difference between the evils of Hitler and most of the Wehrmacht. It's the same reasoning I have to give when people hear of my "war room" as my family calls it.

I spent many years thinking about what my room would look like some day and when I moved into this house about 6 years ago I transformed the empty space above my garage into what you see today. This is the first project that I have even done that has gone 100% as I envisioned it. The wide staircase, 9ft. high ceilings, fancy lighting fixtures and trimwork. Even the placement of the fireplace/HD TV and display cabinets ALL fit where I wanted them too. As with any collection, it evolves and changes slightly every so often!

      All the best,
      Mike

Do you give the explanation to visitors before, or after, you open the door and reveal it?

I recall once I was shown upstairs in a tiny one-up, one down village house in Bangkok, and that one upstairs room was done out perfectly like a Macau casino. It was quite a shock.. !!

              Mike,

I already commented in an older thread, but will gladly do it again as I'm stunned with the taste of the room and your collection in general. Especially the way you present an award in combination with an award document is worth mentioning. I have several award documents as well, but I sometimes feel collectors are not always ecstatic to present these (or they are stored into a binder). Which is contrary to your display(s) .

              Thanks for sharing,
              Laurens

Ps: Both cross and package are W&L in your photo 20035? I tend to see the maker mark on the package in the reflection of the mirror ..
