Does any one collect Britains Ltd?

It's not German stuff but does anyone collect Britains Ltd toy soldiers. The majority in this collection where produced by the firm Britains Ltd and date from the 1920's and 1930's. The firm is still in business.. first producing toy soliders around 1893. Until they began producing soliders, the Germans dominated the English market. However within a few years of production, this firm became the largest producer in the world exporting their soliders throughout Europe and all over the world.

Does such britains toy soliders have a value?? I have maybe 15 germans at home, think two has lost an arm, the others still have therirs, some of them have both helmet decals left, but some have only one.

I also have an ketteradkraft and a Pak 40, think they are stamped brittains to.

Got them as a birth day present when i were younger.

          Dirk,

I do like these, and have a few some where I have a lot of the Britains farm animals wooden, tin and lead.

The soldiers they produce now are of course for the collectors market. Back in the 70's I had the German, English and American Britains soldiers (Also in the desert gear) you could buy them as singles or it long boxes).I had the field guns, the Scout car, Kuble + gun and the jeep, remeber the mortars too.

In the mid 80's they changed the boxes and gradually phased out the WW2 toys.

I still have two helicopters in boxes a Kubelwagen and a jeep all in the early style boxes(70's).

I've just over a 100 lead soldiers also, not Britains but a Del' Prado collection with a 100 years of soldiers from all wars.

Dinky has to be the ulitmate 'toy' I had a few of these as a kid and I bought a few, I've a hundred or so from the 30's until the 70's, then the car collection when they re vamped Dinky under matchbox.

Heres a couple of German bits.

          Kind regards,

          Marcus

When I was younger, I had a lot of them...real DEETAIL-soldiers; cowboys, indians, DAK, GI's etc...even legionnaires. I found a box with a few of them, but I wonder were the rest is?? If I remember correctly I payed around 10 $ for one!!

How much would these fetch today?

here's a picture of the box as they're stored since around 10 years now

Must be a Euro thing but in England we never had the Legionnaires as far as I remember, and I think I'm correct. Wow never seen those before.

$10.00 blimey, they used to be 10p, ten pence when I was a kid each.

They're not worth much more now bless 'em, I have seen them for a pound each or less, maybe in 30 years time eh!

                          WOW!

Marcus I love your army. I especially like that Ost Soldat who is holding a Ppsh.
Very realistic. How much are those ones worth?

                          A pretty penny, I'd say.

                          :edit:
If it isnt a problem could you please post more pictures of them?

Marcus- Like the collection. Is Prado a Spainsh company? Also how tall are the figures. The Britains are 54 mm (2 1/2 inches). The prado have very good detailing. Also the Legion sets were available in the states.

Lasse and Jan yes, even the plastic one's from the 70's are collected. I don't know value on them but I see them at shows so I'll check prices for you. Keep the orignal boxes as they increase in value by up to 1/3.

                            D. Phillips would like to know what sets your dad brought back. Britains made several South African regiment sets that are worth a lot. And the sets they made during the Boer War are worth thousands if still in there original boxes.
