Hi i was wondering what peoples thoughts are on displaying my wehrpass's.
I store them at the moment in plastic sleeves in a folder but no one can really see them so i was wondering if putong them in a display cabinet would work?
I was also wondering should i buy up the medals that the soldiers were awarded and the rank chevrons they wore and display them in a case with the wehrpass open at the photo page?
Any thoughts on the subject would be most welcome

I know just what you mean. When I collected wehrpasses I always wondered about how to store or display them. What I finally did was to purchase the type binder/notebook that has the outer clear plastic sleeve. I then scanned and printed a copy of the page which has the mans photos. That I put behind the clear plastic on the face side and on the edge side I printed out in enlarged letters the owners name. Inside I had the wehrpass and the research I had done. Good luck.

yes, good idea - and for the best sides (high awards, high rank, speziall unit or anything like this, you could copie or scann it in a quality way and frame it and infront of it you could add things how really belong to him or he would have gotten in war like medals or anything esle.
i don't would make "new" bars out of singel medals, let single ones single and look for bars who have the medal the man was able to wear.

I display my Wehrpasses in Riker Mounts. However, I have researched and documented them...mainly with the help of Ian and others from these forums. Someday I intend to put it online, but first I will have to design a website!

I would agree-- scan the contents, print up the stories: but be very careful NOT to leave the printouts in contact with your originals in case of ink leaking.

It is possible to write up a little biography on every soldier

which is easier for you to read, as well as anyone else, for that matter. We document guys are fascinated by these, but nobody else is going to notice that really neat entry on page whatever!

Bringing this old thread to the top as im now in this situation! My collection is focused on both crosses of the Reich and WP/SBs.

Any displays you guys have would be great to see
