My girlfriend is very supportive. Sometimes she joins me to shows and she gave me a book on headgear for my birthday. Because of my stories she already has some knowledge of the stuff.

What my friends think I don't know. Up till now they keep visiting me. Some are really interested and want to see new additions. Others do not mention it. Besides that I have some friends who also collect. It's great to meet them and discuss new things!

My parents don't have any problems with it. My father went to shows with me but he is out of the country now most of the time.

      Unfortunately....

... for me, My wife hates the stuff... bad karma and all.... she's not a collector and despite the pre-nuptial warnings, she now believes me to be completely and incurably insane.... I keep hearing things like...
"when this room gets back to "normal"".....
      sucks to be me!

My favorite:"THIS,isNOT the Imperial War Museum,You know!!" So I cleaned it up and hung tasteful pictures of the royal family;well, the German royal family. Also, highland regimental stuff and regimental mascots.

My wife has never said much about my stuff. She has quit asking "How much?" She prefers my Imperial to WW2 german pieces due to the lack of the swaz. All was fine until I brought home a nice tornister pack two weeks ago. I never even thought about what her first question would be - "What kind of fur is that?" She was NOT happy and it now lives in the basement. I am sure the first time she has to touch it it will be going away.

I ended up with a bunch of stuff I couldn't bear to see get thrown out by an elderly relative. This was an assortment of things brought back from the Boer War.I was intrigued by the "jewelry" so took it down to the museum. They were kind enough to bag it and tell me about it.I was really excited--the family was horrified. They were worrior charms made out of lion mane, trade beads ,and human bone and organs. It resides hidden away in the basement except for those occasions when the curious want to be disgusted.I have some personal items of an SS doctor who did experiments in the camps and I ask them which one is the savage? That usually gets the point across as the African things honour a brave foe ;the SS things don't honour anything except cruelty.

I have a very nice display of EK's and related awards. But I keep
them covered whenever we have people over.
My wife is very supportive of my collection and enjoys going to
gun and military shows with me but some of our friends can't
seem to get past the "Nazi" name to care about the history or
craftsmanship that is behind these awards.
