Question about award loop placement

Great tunics. Here's a semi-related question. Did pilots wear these and if so how high did they wear operational clasps? Would it be just over the pocket or higher up the chest? I ask because it seems most of these are FJ or flak and never seem to have flying clasps.

I can't get a good photo of my loops but they are placed like these. Two just over the pocket and 4 in a row top to bottom, two on the pocket and two under it. I guess he could have been a pilot or observer then?
