Hi All was asking as peter v lukacs of Military Antiques of Stockholm had a m44 tunic from the Brandt collection and have had a reply from him about this yes not third reich depot
Robert
He was a 14 year kid when the war finished and he started to collect items the 9´th of may. His father did not allow him to collect any weapons and such stuff, but he was going to depots and took what soldiers unloaded at streets..........that where the start of one of Europes largest collections. He then worked as a postman and then to the chance to ask everybody if they had anything lying around, so he collected more items during all his life...........in the late 1980´s he started to slowly sell of everything and a couple of years ago everything where sold off.
I have not delt with The Third Reich Depot as I am in the UK. Is it really that bad for fakes/junk? I only look at it for prices and descriptions of items. I never buy anything without handleing and referencing it first.
Can you point me in the direction of some Trusted Sites used by your good selves?
I have a collection but the site won't let me post attachments so I can't share it with you all.
The collector's name was Gerd Brand and he lived not far from Bielefeld, Germany. A postal worker and HJ member in his youth.
I had the pleasure of visiting his collection in the Summer of 1994. You cannot imagine its depth and variety. I have photos here -- though not digital -- which I will scan sometime and run. I wish I knew Gerd was selling off the remainder as I would have been first in line.
There were dozens of uniforms and headgear. He was very kind to me personally -- and sold me two hats at the time.
My best,
Mike
