Man do I understand where you are coming from on the money issue. At 16 my collection grows quite slowly as well.

Great looking collection and I love the armbands. You should get them all framed on a huge mount. That is the best way to display them.

Don't sell yourself short. For the short time that you have been collecting and the tight budget that you have, you have made a great start in this expensive and dangerous (I'm alluding to the minefield of reproduction/fantasy items) hobby. From the looks of it, you have done your homework well, or have had some good guidance because all of the armbands that you show are original.
Don't fall into the mainstream opinion that the High-Ranking Political leader armbands are rare. Sadly, too many collector's think the same and have therefore driven the prices of these armbands sky-high, even though they were mass-produced and are plentiful to find so the label "rare" is unwarranted (the label "expensive" is more accurate). I personally consider one-time event armbands the rarest like the series of ONS armbands, NSKK, and DDAC armbands. Also, Org Todt, NSG/KDF, DRV, and VDA armbands can be considered rare/hard to find. I have attached a pic of one of my scarcest armbands for your education. If you send me your email address, I'll gladly send you some more examples of scarce/rare armbands. Thanks so much both of you! It was hard for me to get this items and more the SS armband. I somehow managed to get it at the end of my 2nd year collecting.

I know what you mean. I shouldn't think that way; but for some reason they are over $600 everywhere. (High Rank Political leader Armbands). I found this dealer website and this guy has many of them. I was surprized to see soo many. And by the looks of them they are 100% fine. Thought they were rare.. ^^

About my guidance; what I did was study many many armbands everywhere; search for "armbands". and go to sites and download/save as many as I could and have them in a folder where I could appreciate them later. Also readin many threads about them gave me an idea of whats real and whats not.


One thing that I always DO when I get a new armband is "Smell" it. for some reason EVERY single one of my armbands has this particular 'OLD' smell. Very same smell... And even from many sellers... that tells me this is it.. Its real...! i black light test them and then study their stitching and fabric and position of words/ lettering type. etc.

I dont consider myself an experct of armbands but I hopefully will get to the place were I would call myself experienced. Dont think I'll ever be an expert.


Distard I would love to see your rarest armbands and learn more from it, including the one attached for some reason I have never seen it.
