    Panzer Wrap

Hi Bnz 42, The wrapper has a reapplied breast eagle as I understand that there is/was a lot of German militaria in that area of the world, but most of it comes with some or all of its original insignia missing and also from what I understand that it is a pretty big deal if you are caught with these items as you are removing a sort of national treasure. Thanks for the compliments of the collection. Eric

This is actually a decent wrap. Some shun the "capture stamps" but it is all authentic and part of history. For the price these run these days, one with these stamps can save a few hundred $.

Some day you may want to get a more professional job done sewing the eagle on again - would enhance the piece.

There are several generations of these captured stocks floating around in the hobby. The early ones mostly had all insignia on them and were obtained for next to nothing then sold at a huge profit/market value in the 80's...the later ones and almost all of them today I believe are stripped tunics that are sewn up to cater to what the Russians, etc now know brings big $ and they are no longer cheap to obtain by dealers.

Thanks for sharing the additional photos. It is not an easy uniform to find these days - never was.

IMO, it is even better if a tunic has captured stamps. First, it is a good proof that it is original, and secondly, it means that the tunic has its own history...

          stamps

The stamps are for a theatre or play company, not museum. I have been bringing in higher end Soviet uniforms for awhile and we get these stamps now and then; sometimes on some rare stuff. There were huge stores in the storage areas of Mosfilm and Lenfilm that were sold off really fast back in 1992-1993. These stores are long gone, but the stamped items still pop up. I had a nice NKVD - NKGB general that had Mosfilm stamps inside it.

            Russian Stamps

Thanks for the info Doug! It seems that real capture items are getting more scarce as time passes. This wrap has had the breast eagle replaced and also at one time so has the collar tabs . Former stitch holes can be seen for both. From what I have been told most items from that region have had most of the insignia replaced. Have you found many German items from the Soviets with original to the tunic insignia?
