Hello
I am nearly sure that this photo comes from the Museum of the Armed Forces in Moscow. I paid it a visit at the beginning of the 90s.
I remember perfectly well all this EK stuff even if the display was radically different from the photo posted by Rich.
I wa said that all this EK (most of them being EK2, very few EK1 and no RK, trust me) were captured by the Soviet forces during their first Winter counter offensive in 1941-42. The EK were originally intended to reward the German troops who would have been seized of Moscow. They are mint as they were never issued. I've also seen a cardboard box full of EK2 on a Russian wartiem photo but I don't know if both can be connected.
In the same museum, you could also see all the regimental flags who were captured and used for the victory parade on the Red Square in Moscow in May, 1945. There were several tens of them even if I don't remember the exact number. There was also the Adolf Hitler Standarte.
Except this items, there was almost nothing else. Quite disapointing for a collector of German artifacts. At that time, Russian authorities doesn't want to exhibit too much Fascist items. I don't know if it is still the case.
Regards
Denis
