I have posted some of my helmet collection here and have been asked about the helmet stands.
They are from Canadian Tire, cost $20 cdn each and are paper towel holders available in their homeware section. They have a sturdy base, made from either brushed metal or chrome and made by Umbra whose website is http://www.umbra.com/ so I am sure available worldwide.
The helmet stands do not tip over. On top I put some felt that goes on the bottom of chairs for hardwood floors so they dont scratch the floor. The felt is already pre-taped, just peel and stick.
They are stable and you can fit 2 helmets inside a DeTolf quite nicely using this method.
The only drawback is removing the helmets from them, you must lift the helmet straight up slowly so the liner string doesnt catch on the top and tear fragile liners. I learned this the hard way...
the brushed metal doesnt show the dust too badly and doesnt take away from the helmet display and maitains a nice look to it.
