Four holes and a different stem shape is Bundeswehr mountain troops if I'm not mistaken! Nice collection. Nick

The current pieces used by the Bundespolizei (formerly BGS) and Bavarian Polizei utilize a four hole Edelweiss, with the lower stem tip being completely visible. Not sure about the Bundeswehr, but I have no reason they would not also use this same design.

I do however believe that the old TR pieces were worn well after the end of WWII, at least by the Bavarian Police. I was curious if any in his collection had been attributed to post war usage.

                Hi,

i think and hope that they are all ww2 edelweiss. The one with 4 holes is the only one marked GB44.

Just to clarify my earlier posts. The current poduction4 hole ones feature three of the holes on the Edelweiss flower leaves, and one on the base of the stem.

So if you look at the BGS one displayed you can see the holes at 12:00, 4:00, 7:00 and at the cut edge of the stem base.

I like your collection, nice display of EW's.

It's just my small contribution to this fantastic forum. I don't like to ask for advices only, but truth is that I have very little to share with you, especially if compared to the awesome stuff i see here every day. I'm happy then if you liked my edelweiss display.
