I have been pondering the idea of building a gun safe that at the switch of a button raises the displayed pistols like a museum display. I am in process of slowly building a officer pistol collection, all pp's ppk's, and sauer 38h's. I only have 3 guns now and would max out under 10. so large spacing with a focus on each pistol with lighting and stuff like that in the big rectangular box...
The larger base would be like a rectangular dresser size, probably out of poured concrete (I've already made my own large Bar B Ques this way with tile poured concrete slabs underneath)
Then an inner lucite part that raises up? but still has a concrete top.
there are ways to add texture, paint, and other decoration to concrete, so that is not an issue. Weight is an issue and building the raising and lowering mechanism. I also have access to fire proof brick which may be a cheap way to make the safe fire proof, but i dont' have detailed schematics.
I don't know where to begin though, and what should I study in terms of blue print making and engineering of this?
is there any strong electric motors that are quieter than garage door openers?
