Marc is correct. I use PhotoElements 7.0 software to make these montages.

        Edit: Sorry, a mistake. It's 5.0 PhotoElements.

          Diffusion Light Box

The diffusion light box is an excellent investmet as was pointed out, I have had one for years, produces great results and is well worth it.

Do a google search for Riker mounts.

Ok, what am I doing wrong? Is there a different methodology with EKs (bright frame and black center)? I've also tried at different angles. My camera is full auto so I can't set ISO. It automatically sets it to macro when close enough. If I increase the amount of light, I get a shiny black core.

I built myself a light box but still can't get good quality pics.

Plain IKEA desk is long enough to enable comfort during taking pics, side lamps came from same surce:

What a nice thread to learn how to take photo of collections.

I always use natural light. Below is my best shot of MP44.

I took photo with sunset light into my house.

Other photos you can see at below thread.

                              Here is my attempt:

My Speed is at 100 and I have a fstop of 2.8. I put 2 lights on either side of the subject and a white sheet under for the backdrop. No flash. I think it came out o.k.
