    vet find

    hi all
    thought i would show these.
was in a rugby game in cardiff last week (wales v england)and was sat next to an old man in the halftime interval got talking and found out he was a ww2 vet with the royal welsh fussilears(yeh i probably spelt that wrong) anyway was telling me about his time in germany at the end of the war and telling me how they used to take all the medals and badges os anything else they wanted off the germans pow`s and mentioned he still had some items at home and if i was interested i could have them as he was getting on in age and wanted to see them go to a good home so today a week later i made a 75 mile trip to west wales and below is a pic of what i was given tried to give him money for them but he would not except it was just glad they where going somewhere they would be looked after.
if anyone has any ideas what some of these items are id be grateful some are damged like the wound badge and one of the eagles but dont know what the cloth eagles are for od the circular one
    enjoy

    Nice haul!

The cloth eagles are navy and the circular one is post office.

Best items are the E-Boat Badge and the Spanish Wound Badge. The EK isn't bad either.

I have had a few similar experiences with vets.......they just want to know that their treasured items will be looked after when they've gone.

Stu, they're all really nice items with a really nice history, any chance of a close up on the EK1? Is the EK1 maker marked?

If you ever want to part with the wound badge then PM me.

              Souval; nice collection.

Too bad about the zinc-rot on the E-Boat.

Indeed I would get some Vaseline on your 2nd pattern E-Boat by A.S. (Adolf Scholze.)

The cloth eagles are KM and one is for the right breast, the other looks to be for a visor.

The metal eagles all look to be KM as well, the largest one being for the tropical tunic.

Your wound badge in silver is a Spanish Civil war version (Condor Legion)

The small eagle and cockade looks to be a "Donald Duck" version KM cap.

                      Hi Stuart!

I have used vaseline to combat zincpest - it removes the pest & does not damage the finish on the badge - it also helps protect against further attack as it [I think?] absorbs into the zinc.
Quite a few threads explain the procedure
                      Regards
