    Tunic displays

    Hi all,

I recall seeing some pictures from a collector in South Africa (I think) whould have some tunics displayed in frames. I have ofteen though about ideas to do this in my limited space and wanted to see or hear thoughts of others on how they have tackled or at least thought about displaying of tunics\uniforms in this manner.

John, I am the guilty party. The framing of tunic has a lot of advantages:
It protect the tunic agaist dust, pests and hands.
It saves space, up against the wall.
It can be on display all the time.

No disadvantages that I can think off, except the frames can be pricey. I have done my frames so that they are hinged on one side, so they can open like a cabinet allowing access. Just make sure the hangers are well padded. Dont make the boxes deeper than 80mm. Jacques

I have some thoiughts on a custom frame but I think I lack the skills and tols to build it myself - I may have to ask Skip to assist...

John, "Baie dankie" is spot on. You can use two options,
The first one is were you create a flat box closced at the back and line it with coloured mounting board. You then cover the opening with a picture frame of your choice ( with hinges on one side.)
The second option is a flat wooden box with a wooden door covering the opening, like a big flat square display cabinet.
The second one is really easy to built yourself. Jacques

You are right Jacques, it has been a bit since their glory in Johannesburg!! I still love them though and are my favorite Rugby team in the world!
