Pioneer shoulderstraps with slip-ons

A pair of pioneer EM shoulderstraps shown with 2 different sets of slip-on unit cyphers (Übershube).

The 246th Pioneer Battalion was part of 246th Infantry Division (destroyed on the Eastern Front in the summer of 1944 and later re-constituted as a Volks-Grenadier Division).

The 659th Pioneer Battalion was an independent battalion that operated at Corps / Army level etc and had an interesting history:-

Bau-Pioneer shoulderstraps

I have these shoulder-straps on the way. As T J Suter (author of German Army Shoulder straps and boards) indicates in post #152 of this thread the Bau-Pioneer Waffenfarbe changed from this light brown to black effective from 11th October 1943 (although the light brown Waffenfarbe remained for the Kriegsgefangenen Bau and Arbeits battalions for the remainder of the war).

Hopefully there will be more Pioneer related items out there to add to this thread that has slept for 2 years!

Though I mostly focus on Luftwaffe engineers these days, I haven't been able to resist a couple of pioneer visor purchases of late....
