    A small collection

I think I’ve decided I like the Collections & Display Forum best here on WAF. It’s where you can see an awful lot of very nice things displayed very proudly & gather many ideas for where one might want to take their own collections & how to display items in ways you hadn’t considered before (like using upended wine goblets for hat stands). Anyway, I thought I might share some of the stuff I’ve hunted since getting into collecting Third Reich stuff. I’ve only really been collecting since ‘99 and, unlike some of you folks with “bunkers” to display your collections, I’m limited to a small upstairs home office to keep this stuff in so I really don’t have a very big collection because there just isn’t the space to spread out.

My favorite (but crowded) wall - the eagle measures about four feet by three feet originally owned by a gentleman named Joe Bourn down in Texas but found its way up here.

The little bust on my cap cabinet is a silver plated bust (9 inches) given to a “Major Rudolph Schmundt, der chef adjutant d. Wehrmacht, 03.10.1938” who had the unfortunate luck to be Hitler's adjutant and get himself blown up by Stauffenberg’s little surprise. Schmundt was a general by then.

The Fuhrer Standard is kind of neat in that my framing guy (who’s also a class III dealer) used archival mat & lexan on both sides so one can take it off the wall & view it from both sides.

The KC is the type marked with 800 and the Junker dot and was awarded (I was told) to a Karl Berger on 2/7/45. This was picked up in February of 2004.

The Eagle Order was picked up in early 2006. It's the 1st Class Neck Cross, 1937- 43 issue. It’s marked “900” and “21”(for Godet).

Thanks Santiago! I try to destroy my beer budget in a most effective fashion. I believe if I spend it the IRS can't have it.

A DRK frame having the Hewer, frog, belt & buckle. The Social Welfare & Red Cross Honor Badge of ‘37-’39. NCO tabs & straps as well as the duty armband.
