Great document group with neat photos. It's really too bad though, that the families of these heros are so quick to part with these important family mementos. Unless of course it is a matter of economic necessity. I can't see a Canadian family selling off a grandfathers' Victoria Cross doc, or an American family putting a relative's medal of Honor doc on the market. Do you think this is a vestigal "war Guilt " thing, or is this stuff just not important to some people? Feel free to move this post if you think it is more appropriate somewhere else. Cheers, Chris B.

Many families have sold Grandpa's documents in all countries. You and I never would but many have done so. More documents than that were thrown away most by the vet himself. Nice collection and photos of a human trapped in a time when there was a world war.

            Hey sx11894,
Fantastic, I love aviation stuff my self. I have two pilots groupings (US) and would love more, too bad no uniforms. Lot of the stuff I see, the vet or family would like someone who cares get it. Others, unfortunately would rather throw it away. What a loss if they do! Great to see, wish I had it!!!

That fantastic group is far better off in the hands of someone who cares, than in the family of people who could not care less what their relative did IMO.

                      Respectfully,
                      Jeff

Realistically there are not many families that hang onto a VC... and My DSO, MC groups etc were all sold by families as well at some stage.....
