    Hi there

Looks like a great start to me !!! I only wish I'd started younger.

My advice is to get some really good books by well respected authors.

    Knowledge is power !

    Enjoy the collecting !

Great start to a life long passion. Think what you your collection will be like when you get to Rick Lundströms age

I think i was 2 or 3 when i picked up my first piece of militaria, a cap badge but the bug didn't really bite before i was 15 or so. At 13 i was reading Sven Hassel books

As Alf said....knowledge is power m8.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

        Hello again !

What an author Sven is - I have as many of his books as I could get - alot were banned here in South Africa for 'graphic violence'

Heck - I was fighting in Angola when I was 19 and out of the army when I was 19 and a half - The funny part is that they would not let me go into movies that were age restricted 2 - 21.. What a giggle !

Life is funny sometimes isn't it ...

        Cheers

        Alf

            Hi Tyler,

With total sum of $2058 excluding medals, I guess, you had mowed >102 yards at age thirteen... man, that's a lot for a kid!
Which is equivalent to 50+ days of work .. . which I assume 2 jobs per day.
Don't you need to go to school?

Also, how you access to those guns as underage boy?
Did ATF know about it? Don't tell me you dad/mom bought those
firearms for you as christmas gift..

            cheers
            ken

Well, I keep the Rifles in my room (no ammo for them and the bolt is out of them (my mom keeps the bolts)) and the Luger stays in my moms room (LOCKED UP GOOD!)
The luger was a X-mas gift, the Rifles I bought my self (with my mom approvel of course)

                  Your collection and one tip

                  Hi Tyler,

I started collecting when I was about 10 or 11. I am now 32 and my collection has gotten large and valuable. I got most of my stuff from vets, local shows, etc.. My collection now is almost like my retirement fund as it has appreciated more than retirement plan in the last 5 years. My one tip is don't sell things unless you have to. Some of the items I sold when I was young would be very valuable today (especially the vet stuff). Your story is so similar to mine.

                  Good luck,
                  Ty

Greetings -- I can't stand it!!! I have to tell my story of despair and sadness. I lived across the street from a vet who sold me Hitler's son's helmet -- a gen-u-wine SS helmet for the outrage sum of $20 (US - cash of course). This was in 1960 which was big bucks back then (yeah, they even had TV!). Later, I found out that it was a simple police helmet but what the heck it was real! I collected bits and pieces at the local gun show through the years but I end up in Germany in 1966 and bought some stuff at the flea markets and antique stores. Came back and went to school so I sold some of my stuff for a song. Really irks me today but live and learn. Bottom line is do not sell your stuff -- bye the bye, nice collection for one so young - and best to you and your nice collection. Kind Regards - Ernest

yep dont sell your high end stuff

Just to put it in perspective & how greedy the market can get
I sold a mint Luft pilot/observer cased,,I hated to let it go but I needed the cash. I bought it for about $800 2 years ago, Now I see it for sale on a respected dealers site for $1200
Kills me to think what a Knights Cross is gonna cost me when i get the cash up
