The bike is a mid war 1943 model NSU 251 OSL German army motorcycle with pot metal engine (as opposed to aluminum which was conserved for the aircraft industry). Matching numbers, original "half fish tail" military exhaust (to clear the saddlebags/boxes, which I have not mounted yet), original military data plate, original seats etc... but has some minor issues like post war civilian paint, modern handlebars and controls, easy to fix! Hope you like it! Hopefully by next year restored in its ordnance tan color and military plates! Nick

Great NSU! Once I have my NSU 501 OSL restored, I'll post pics of it on the forum.

Data plate reads (bottom right) baujahr 1943, (hard to read) and it was built at the NSU plant along side the famous NSU kettenkrad tracked motorcycle, which came from the same manufacturer. The Data plate also reads "entstort nach Gruppe III" (radio interference check completed, typical military) Also coming pictures of my 1939 Zundapp KS600 with (ex-Danish Army) captured WW2 military side car! Stay tuned! Nick

The tactical markings on the 1939 ZUndapp are for the feldgendarm (police) abteilung of the "Landstorm Nederland". This unit started as a mixed Dutch-German internal security force (auxiliary police), which eventually became incorporated in the Waffen SS as a combat Division bearing the same name.
