    Photo

    Hello,

    @ Victor: thank you for the nice words

    @ Flak88 : sure, here is the picture. It does however not show the Kurland in wear but the so called "Spiess" stripes.

    Cordial greetings,

          his wound

          Hello,

          And did you notice his hand in the last picture?, he still has his thumb. Then a finger is missing (Zeigefinger) and then his other finger is missing a piece.

          The wound badge in silver is what he did earn as a replacement.

          Actually he did manage rather well in the war, as when looking toward sthe unist he served in => they where wipped out and only a few lucky ones did survive the whole inferno.

            Stijn,
            That is a oustanding group. So much history there, from the begining to the end. Thanks for sharing.

              losses

              Hello,

              Thank you chet, love it also very very much => here i also do wisch to give a small example that the battles (even iff they were in poland) where quite often with much more losses fought then we do imagine.

              During the poland campaign the I.R. 3 did suffer :

              * 39 K.I.A.
              * 4 M.I.A.
              * 112 Wounded

              So with such numbers, that was no fun anymore for sure.

              And the war was only begun at that point, this person did manage to survive the madness.

              Cordial greetings,

                    I have to echo the comments of the others - I can just feel the connection you must have to the history when holding these items!

                    THANKS for sharing!
