    DAK Ring

This ring came with a 43 dated DAK pocket calander.with the german soldiers name written inside.and the GI's that captured it's dedication and date..I just thought I'd post the ring.as it photographed well.and I really like it..small but hard to find. I cleaned it a bit with a jewelers cloth for the picture..but after a month or two..it just reverts back to a nice patina/tarnish..as it has now.

Thanks Chris..I really like it too..if I recall correctly..Benders old book on the DAK from the 80's translates the arabic inscrpition on the sides as the town of "derna"..I believe there was a large luft base/army base there.

NIce ring Jim! The inside of yours looks the same as mine...a kind of worn brass color or something.Imnot sure as I'll have to pull mine out..the side ofmine and yours it appears are brass? I beleive the front of mine is actually gold..that part does not tarnish like the rest of the ring..but I've never had it looked at by a jeweler.

              Scott,

My ring is made from a very light metal with the DAK insignia, camel etc done in brass. The maker marks are Arabic from what I've been told. You don't see too many of the ornate rings like yours for sale. The DAK insignia on yours probably is gold. Nice score.Jim

Thanks Jim..I've had the pieces about ten years..they came from Bob Sevier..along with but not originally together a minty minty dak/tropical M41 cap.but probably never issued/worn.and 43 or so piece..I like tropical gear..and cold weather just as much..for me the rings are such a nice thing.I've always wanted a nice condor legion ring..saw one.but it got away.ti was superlative! I had to really hound Bob to part with these pieces.ring.booklet and hat..he really liked them alot..but finally let them go take care! Scott

Hi K.Chan, they were not awarded, they were an item that could be bought from local Arab silversmiths in North Africa.

                      Cheers, Ade.

                          A-Grade ring, I love it.
There are MANY fakes of these DAK rings out there, probably at least 75% that are sold are rip-offs, but this is one I would confident in buying.

                            dak ring

Guys, both rings are truely stunning rings!!! I have only a couple and i am quite sceptical about the one due to the really odd shaped dak and 1941 on both sides of the palm tree. I do have a couple that were made from some medal and then had some one or themselves engrave a dak and a tree or a camel on the rings. Picked them up from a US vet who was there. Parted with most of the ones that just had city names on them, but kept the cool ones for myself. But awsome rings guys. Matt

Thanks Afrika man..here is a different view of the ring..shot on a different background...gives it a different effect ..the first was shot on mirror with black background. This is a scan of a photo..so the image is not as sharp.the first image was the actual digital image taken with the camera itself.
