Used to be my Russian Collection ........P.II

Got the scanner working and dug out my pics. I won't go into what uniform is what, but they are all 1940-1945 parade generals and admirals ( and a marshal) of the USSR.

Naval; the one in the corner was a frock coat made for Admiral of the Fleet Kuznetzov in 1944 when he was given Naval Marshals insignia.

This is how i had it done when i moved. It never really had the feel of the old room.

Let me know if anyone wants any info on any of the uniforms.

              hy doug,
              very nice pictures!!!
i've not really a knowledge about russian uniforms, so my questions:
              are these all marine once?
              where you got them?
are the decorations added later by you?
how much would one cost today?
              thanks much christian

If authentic, I'd guess most of thealue in these photos would be in the decorations, not the uniforms?

no, i'd say the value would be split, if i used all real decorations ( I did not of course).

The uniforms are acombination of admirals, generals, and marshals, so no, not all of them are naval.

the value for the parade uniforms ( the gaudy ones with the medals) range from $3k to $14K. thats without medals, which i aded using a combination of real and copies.

i got most of them through connections with the larger collectors in russia itself; they have been collecting along time, but have difficulty in competing for the uniforms now because we pay so much more over here. Thus we can 'persuade' many of the larger collectors to give up their best stuff.

That was "then" (what a word!)...

                    what about NOW?

I don't even have CLOSET space for what I've got now, let alone DISPLAY areas!

                      ...now

I have about 50 uniforms in my fathers basement, but its all business inventory.

For me, I have my rifles general M1945 on display, all the others are gone. I keep my Civil War flag collection in a trunk in my living room (thus no display problem).

Finding space for 32 mannequins in my new place was one of the reasons I sold out.

Not the one you're thinking of...

Please don't think i meant US Civil War. In my world when I talk of Civil War I mean the Whites v. Reds 1917-1922.
