    Oma Homage

I just got back from the SOS where I was able to pick up some very rare items that allowed me to put together a nice group similar to what my Oma wore in the war. Below you will see that I have some of her original stuff, and put together it makes a nice display.

My gradmother started as many women did in the DRK as a Schwesterhelferin. I framed her brooch with her ID papers and it displays nicely with her armband. Many women transferred from the DRK to the military when universal service was enacted, and she went into the Nachrichtenhelferin des Heeres, or Army Signals. These women would work in the occupied territories and while in France she met my Opa who was in the Flak. They married and my mom was born days before the Battle of the Bulge. One of my most prized possessions is the telegram to my grandfather announcing the birth of my mother.

It is next to impossible to find NH des Heeres items, and I was very lucky.

Here is my Oma wearing her uniform with the rank of Oberhelferin. You can see her wearing items similar to what I was able to get:

                Nice

Its nice to see other collections, besides SS and FJ and what makes it even nicer is that it is to a family member.

                Great display,

                Cam
