Jacques, first of all, congratulations for this AMAZING collection you've made!

Now, question: Why did you choose to frame so many items? Medals, docs, photos, etc..? I'm a bit curious, because I like to observe and hold my medals from time to time; to "feel the history".. if you know what I mean

Anyway, this is one of the best collections I've ever seen!

      Regards,
      Sepp.

Stunning collection there Jacques, have you thought of doing a video "virtual tour" discussing new and or favourite pieces? I'm sure many here would be fascinated

Very very impressive display. I must admit that I am getting great ideas for displaying my husband's (Paul R.) collection in our home. I am not going to make him keep it all in one room or a "man cave/study", I want to display pieces all through the house. Our own museum if you will.

I have a question about those wooden hat stands that I see. Where did you get them? What are they called? I would like to get them at various heights so that I can display his head gear collection atop book cases in the living and dining rooms.

I'm wondering if I can make them myself?

I have so married the wrong woman! Are you happy to have a second husband in Australia?

In all seriousness I would be happy to have my other half show a little interest in what I collect. She has given me a 'man cave' but no where the size od Jacques beautiful 'museum'.

The hat stands you can get from here: http://www.skippergreenwade.com/Headgear%20Displays.htm

                  Cheers

Thank you for that link, I'll check it out. I would love to display all of Paul's military covers in groupings by country, service and era.

I am quite happy with my husband. When Paul realized that I loved history as much as he does, he made quick work of bringing us together and getting married. He conspires with Hundenstaffel to add to my War Dog & Military Mascot photo collection, then buys General Patton bits to add to my collection.

Honestly, I enjoy history. I enjoy having artifacts around me. I love the idea of having bits of history decorating our home and letting our home be a living museum of the past. As I've unpacked from our recent move from California to Texas, I've found more and more of Paul's collection and my brain has run amuck with ideas for displaying and preserving it. I don't want to shove those things in a box somewhere or put them behind closed doors, I want them to come alive again and generate the interest of the next generation.

Australia is one place I'd like to visit some day, but your government isn't too found of my beloved American Pit Bull Terriers and I go just about everywhere with my dog. She's even been to the White House.

Just ONE shelf? Out the ENTIRE house? Jeez, you need to renegotiate that!!

Does your wife dislike your collection? Is she not interested or does it creep her out? I know a few women who are really put off by the collecting of "dead mens stuff".

As much as I enjoy history and collecting, I have limits too. One of those is mannequins with faces. Those abstract egg head full body mannequins are fine, but a host of mannequins with faces in the livingroom and dining room would just be too much. Once Paul retires, the kids are gone and we have our own house, we'll have a study where the faced masses of the KGB and Luftwaffe can live.

Or you can just resort to good old bribery. Buy a nice wooden bookshelf and negotiate space for your collection while getting her a new piece of jewelery, sewing machine, craft tool or what-ever makes her happy.

Simply Amazing! Are the books all reference? If so I had no idea that many even existed!
