    Collection identification help?

I have recently inherited a collection of WWII items that was owned by Mom's first husband (he obtained all of these items on his WWII tour) -- he passed away and Mom married Dad. These items have been in a chest for the last 60+ years so some of the metal and boullion items have rusted/corroded a little. The fabric is all in good shape, no moth damage.

Anyway, I haven't done the HTML yet but the pictures that are edited can be seen at:

    http://www.iceweasel.net/wwii

I still have a few pictures to take and quite a few to edit, so I will be adding more before I get around to putting everything into an HTML gallery with descriptions.

If anyone wants to take a stab at IDing any of them, please be my guest!! I have tried to do what research I can, but I am still not all that knowledgable (like what does RK and EK mean?) -- I tried to put LW for luftwafe and KM for Kreigsmarine. I take it the army was Heer?

Mostly my identifications are based off of what I found for sale with a picture on someone else's website.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thank you,

    - Shari

There is alot of neat stuff there. I think it might take awhile to figure out what all of those tinnies and such are from, but this is the group to answer your questions. Now that you have all of those what do you plan on doing with them? Have they peeked your intrest in expanding your collection?

Unfortunately I will be selling them all. I hate selling things that I am not knowledgable about, so research first of course.

I'd really kind of like to keep them but what with most of the computer jobs being outsourced to India, funds are pretty low in my family and I can't really afford to keep them. I'm hoping I won't have to sell my depression glass collection next.

Hi & welcome to the forum ,
'EK' is an abbreviation for 'Eiserne Kreuz' (Iron Cross) & 'RK' is an abbreviation for 'Ritterkreuz' (Knights Cross).

I kind of figured out that EK was an Iron Cross, nice to know the german word for it. And aha! Knight's Cross! I'm just not up on the abbreviations yet. *sigh*

            Thank you!

Thank you! That is Thorn, my "silver" ferret. (well, was. She's been gone for over five years and now I have dogs. Boyfriend is allergic to cats and ferrets.)

Our motto was "all ferrets are weasels, but not all weasels are ferrets." Iceweasel comes from "love is like a snowmobile racing across the tundra... suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath. at night the iceweasels come."

That was probably TMI. Back to the collection! Identify! Identify!
